Geary Dance Center will be offering a special bespoke version of The Nutcracker, performed on Dec 12 & 13 at 6:30pm at the studio! There are dances for every age, ability and experience.
Come for the magic, stay for the potluck!

What makes the Geary Dance Center Nutcracker different from all the other Nutcrackers? We have streamlined the music to about an hour and have adapted the story to focus on the magic and wonder of the Land of Sweets while incorporating some Eastern European folklore. Set in Madame Drosselmeyer’s School of Ballet during winter recital time, The Nutcracker tells the story of young Clara, who is swept up into a battle between the Rat Queen and the beloved Sugar Plum Fairy and triumphs over evil through kindness and quick thinking. Upon visiting the Land of Sweets, Clara is entertained by delicious goodies from around the world, Arabian Baklava, Chinese Boba Tea, Italian Tiramisu, Russian Honey Cakes, Ginger bread and Ginger Snaps, Spanish Turron, French Macarons, Sugar Cookies and a dazzling array of rose flavored desserts. Was it real, or was it just a dream? You decide!

REHEARSALS
Ages 5-10: Saturdays 6:30-7:30pm for dancers in FUN III and beginning levels and higher of Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, K-Pop, Contemporary, Musical Theater and Bollywood.
Ages 11-19: Saturdays 6:30-8:30pm for dancers in beginning levels and higher of Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, K-Pop, Contemporary, Musical Theater and Funk.
Everyone to learn the dances before casting is made and rehearsals may be subject to change but will not be longer than the listed times.

COST
$500 Performance Fee per child covers all practices, performance days, costumes, props and an amazing experience!

TICKETS
Ticket cost TBA. This will be a fundraiser to help Geary Dance Center retire one of its covid-era business loans that got us through a 13 month closure mandated by the City of San Francisco.

Schedules may deviate for the older group, any changes will be notified well in advance. For the younger group, we expect the performance to last about an hour, so they should be done by 7:30pm.
